Integrated Myofascial Therapy in Bristol
Integrated, myofascial therapy is a soft tissue rehabilitation therapy that uses therapeutic touch via hands on techniques that reorganise the densification of fascia within the body. Restoring the fascia back to its truest form can create a positive impact both our physical and mental health. Consequently, the reorganisation can be quite profound. I would love for you to come and feel for yourself.
“We have to accept the fact that each part of the body is responsible for supporting and creating integrity to all of it’s counterparts; no one part lives in isolation.”
- Ruth Duncan, In Touch Education
Myofascial Release UK
What is fascia?
Fascia is a living, vibrating web
It’s a continuous whole - there are no seams, no layers, no stitches, no connections
It’s our largest sensory organ
It’s our fluid system
It’s our network of communication
It’s our liquid crystal
It’s multidimensional
It envelopes every cell in the body
It’s constitutive - has the power and potential to give organised existence to something
It’s composed of protein fibres, elastin and collagen and these are embedded within a gel like ground substance, a crystalline water that exists in the extra cellular matrix
How does myofascial release work?
MFR uses therapeutic touch via hands-on techniques on the skin (not through clothing) which are slow and sustained, these can be subtle and gentle or deep and penetrating
MFR tends to the entire fascial network (all of you)
MFR finds the pain and may look elsewhere for the cause
MFR has a key time element to enable the fascia to yield
MFR is not protocol, each session offers a unique treatment
MFR encourages clients to allow their body and mind to soften to help promote interoception (inner awareness)
MFR engages the client during treatment to enhance responses
MFR uses dynamic, spontaneous movement approaches
MFR aims to reorganise physical and emotional holding patterns
Why might fascia be restricted?
Trauma - emotional / physical
Inflammatory responses
Posture / repetive motion
Surgery
Ageing process

+ promotes cellular communication
MFR rehydrates soft tissue gel and reorganises of the structure of the fascia
MFR enhances body-mind-soul communication
MFR enhances proprioception + interoception
MFR can change our perception of pain
